newbie - where to start « Result #1 on Oct 1, 2008, 9:02am »
Hi folks having recently watched one of my friends take part in a sprint triathlon i quite fancy having a go myself so am planning on beginning to train for one of the fun2tri events after i've run the leicester marathon. my swimming and cycling (come to think of it my running) need a lot of work and am keen to join a club. there's no info on the 1485 website of meeting times etc for swimming and stuff - do you run formal sessions and, if you do, would it be ok to come along and try them out sometime?
Arnt triathlons hard enough with out falling off « Result #2 on Sept 23, 2008, 8:00pm »
I'm sure you all train very hard and try and prepare with utmost diligence and attention to detail. I try my best to be one of the above. How ever I was totally unprepared for my departure from my bike midway through the bike section at the Derby triathlon. How stupid I felt when, at about 20 mph, the curb and myself became intimate friends and resulted in me falling and sliding onto a grass verge. I did manage to remount unhurt. Since when can you add into your training regime falling practice. Having done Judo for many years I do know how to break my fall and may be I could be the clubs expert on falling off techniques eh.

Depends on the weather. I'm only going to bother this year if the conditions are favourable for fast times.
I've got another busy weekend with the 2nd Leicester Series Time Trial at Husbands Bosworth on Saturday and the National Duathlon Championship at Milton Keynes on Sunday.
